How Marcus Adeyemi travels

I am thirty eight and I use a manual chair. I have been travelling this way for eleven years and the thing that ruins a day is almost never a hill. It is bad information.

So I read the venue's own access page before I book anything, and I write down what it actually says. Step free at which entrance. Lift to which floor. Whether the accessible toilet is past the ticket barrier. If a page will not tell me, I assume the answer is no and I plan around it.

I keep to two fixed things a day and leave the middle empty. Cities I like are not the flattest ones. They are the ones that publish the detail and then stand behind it.

      Paved loop round the pond. A good place to sit between the two ends of the Mall.
